Sinhalese Consonants  Ta class [8]         -   

The consonant signs of the "Ta" class can be classified into three groups, based on the vocalization. i.e. unaspirated, aspirated and nasal:

1. Unaspirated consonants [two]  

 named "Alpapraana Tayanna" is pronounced "ta".

When no vowel is written with it, like all the consonants, "Alpapraana Tayanna " is vocalized by means of the first vowel , which though unwritten is pronounced after it, as "ta". It has the short sound of English "T" represented as in "tuck", "tonne" and "tongue".
