Rayanna  is the thirty-nineth Sinhalese consonant. When no vowel is written with it, like all the consonants, "Rayanna " is vocalized by means of the first vowel , which though unwritten is pronounced after it, as "ra". It has the short sound of English "r" represented as in "run", and "rum".

Rayanna is also represented by two other sumbols in its diacritic glyph forms, "Raepe" and "Rakaaranse".

,  Raepe 

The first is the "Raepe", which are miniature spiral symbols " " or " " which sit atop a valid horizontal [ > ], upright [ > ], right sloping [ > ] or other [ > ] consonant. The native sound associated with the modified consonant is precedeed by "Rr'" (the aspirated rolling "Rr") sound which gets coalesced.

 ,  Rakaaranse 

The second is the "Rakaaranse", which are diacritical symbols " " or " " that sit below the baseline. These modify the shape of a valid consonant and the native voice of the consonant gets coalesced with ending "Rra" sound. These are a few examples as apllied to the above consonants [ > ], [ > ], [ > ], [ > ].
